Maxwell’s is an award-winning area classic and has been a downtown Belleville dining staple for years. The restaurant is very popular among the local business community and attorneys who swing by for a lunch hour reprieve. The food at Maxwell’s is American with a slight lean towards the Italian side. Pizza, pasta, seafood and steaks are available. The décor is casual, classy, and sometimes a little crazy - the owner, a Florida aficionado, will sometimes pack the place with pink flamingoes. At lunch give their freshly tossed chicken salad a try, order the famous “Godfather” sandwich, or try their signature pepperoni spaghetti. For dinner, request a table by the fireplace and share a pizza and a bottle of wine.

What the Hell happened to my favorite Italian place in Belleville? Our waitress was unfriendly, uninterested, and very unattentive. The "salad" was a bowl full of lettuce with one (really? one!) pepperoni and half (really? half!) a cherry tomato. Whatever happened to putting cheese on a salad? I could've gotten better lasagna from Stouffers for 12 bucks and maybe there would have been some meat and cheese in it(Oh, and That would have been more palatable too!) Wow! I guess I should've ordered a crap sandwich cuz at least that would've been appetizing! Very disappointed, I guess Maxwell's is either cheaping out or has lost what made it great

Nice, affordable Italian food. I wish they had a better selection of wines to go with dinner. I would go again.
