Onesto Pizza & Trattoria is a welcome addition to the growing South City restaurants landscape. Using only the freshest ingredients, organic flour and homemade sauces and dressings, this little neighborhood trattoria offers pizzas, sandwiches, pastas and home-made desserts. In an open, friendly atmosphere, you can even watch the pizza being hand-tossed. You can also take home some of the sauces, desserts and dressings from the prepared food case.
User Reviews
Overall, Onesto's is just your average pizza place...not bad but, also nothing to rave about. I went there because metromix listed it under wood-oven pizza. The pizza isn't baked in a wood fired oven. They use just your normal pizza oven like most other places. If you are looking for real wood oven pizza like they served at Il Vicino's in Clayton (now closed to my dismay) you won't find it here. The service was courteous but, very slow. I don't think that I will go there again.
I don't normally complain about city parking but this is an exception. We parked so far away that we wished we had packed a lunch for the journey to the restaurant. It's in a residential area and it seems like every homeowner has three cars on the street, The place was dead so we didn't have to wait for a table. We should have taken this as a sign of things to come. The ceiling is so low and the music so loud that I could only hear myself say "I want to get this to go". The waitress was inattentive and good God was the burnt pizza over priced, and by a lot. Skip this place.
When Onestos first opened they were very good. Since then they have dramatically gone downhill. The last few times I've ordered a pizza I have been unsatisfied. It was average tasting pizza and I should have saved my money and ordered Dominoes. Today was the last straw, I received the WORST pizza I have ever had from Onestos. It was burnt to a crisp, and the toppings were almost non existent. I basically ate the minimal toppings off the top and threw the rest away. This will be the last time I go to Onestos.
